Respeto was a year-long collaborative, community-driven, seminar salon exploring the Spanish language and Hispanx culture, specifically through the lens of power dynamics in contemporary society. Respeto ran from Spring 2018 to early 2019, and is currently on hiatus.
Respeto was conceived as a social practice art project to address the dangerous, xenophobic intolerance of Hispanx peoples in the United States. By bringing together participants to better understand the language and cultures of Spanish-speaking communities, we hoped to encourage tolerance and understanding.

The seminars were led by Ximena Arbelaez, a Colombian Spanish language instructor, and featured guest speakers ranging from business, social services, and the arts.
